COVID-19: Birth of a New Era

Corona, Coronavirus, Chinese virus, Wuhan virus.

COVID-19, a pandemic that has shook many nations.

Who would have ever saw this coming?

Who would have foreseen a stay-at-home order?

Who would have ever expected to be required to stay at home all day and not be able to go out?

With the stay-at-home order comes cabin fever.

Some struggle in figuring out what to do.

Some struggle in focusing on what they have to do.

Every day being the same, with the exception of a different day.

It seems as if we are stuck in a virtual reality, a time warp.

A cycle that repeats itself each and every single day.

Life as we know it has come to a halt, leaving us without the pleasures we enjoy doing.

I mean, every day is practically the same, even before COVID-19 plagued the world.

The difference is, however, we had the option to go on adventures and go out from time to time to help us deviate and escape from our daily grind.

To help us breathe and live a little; to help recollect ourselves.

But now that’s gone, and with that comes the lack of social interactions; a lack of getting out of the house thus a lack of sunshine.

A never-ending feeling of suspension in time, driving people to the brink of insanity.

COVID-19, what an interesting time.

COVID-19, the possible birth of a new era.

Witnessing a growth in our usage of technology; how it is incorporated into our everyday lives more and more each day.

Everything is going online, they say.

But in the times of COVID-19, everything means everything.

From Zoom meetings to virtual events, you name it.

With this also comes a rise in anti-Asian behavior and ideals; a rise in conspiracy theories regarding the coronavirus.

Seeing posts of people blaming China for the start of the coronavirus.

Seeing the East Asian community constantly getting harassed and abused by the general public.

COVID-19, what a time.

A time of financial struggle and chaos as small businesses are struggling to make ends meet.

As people are left unemployed with no means to support themselves.

A time that has caused chaos and uproar due to people’s frustration with financial struggle and the stay at home order,

As people cannot wait for things to go back to normal so that they can enjoy the everyday pleasures that they once were able to.

So that they can go back to work and mingle with their co-workers while being able to put food on the table and pay their bills.

COVID-19, what a time.

Or should I say, what a first time.
